I got really comfortable teaching fitness in person. I had my regulars, my room setups, my volume levels perfected for ultimate “dance on the mat” vibes, and I had confidence.  This is why when the world shut down last year, I was NOT ready for it.  

As fitness instructors, we have a special kind of passion for creating an environment for our students. We want them to love our workouts as much as we do. We want them to feel confident and powerful. We want them to come back! When you take away control of that physical environment, sometimes we are left with uncertainty, anxiety, self criticism, and self-doubt.  When the world told me I had to go virtual or go home... Congrats! It's an exciting time! As you start to practice your routine and prep your notes, I want to make sure you are as prepared as possible. Why? Well, anything can happen at an audition... and it sure did for me.

I was working at a print shop in Orange County and told my boss that I was going to audition at 24 Hour Fitness during my lunch break. I told her that it shouldn’t take more than an hour for me to change, drive to the gym, do my audition, change back, and get back to the office - after all, I had been to dozens of auditions and had even held many group fitness auditions during my time as a regional manager for LA Fitness.

Interviews and auditions look nothing like they used to pre-COVID, but they are still happening. Being prepared and knowing what your fitness manager or studio owner is looking for, is the key to getting hired. 

I’ve been a POP Pilates instructor since 2017, a POP Pilates Master Trainer since 2019, and the owner of SOAR, a fitness studio in my town.

I'm so excited to be where I am now, but none of this happened overnight. POP Pilates was the first fitness certification that I ever received.
